
Bears Fall To Saint Joseph’s In Weekend Finale

MACON – Saint Joseph's scored runs in the second, third and fourth innings to eventually build a 4-0 lead, and then held off a late rally by Mercer on the way to a 4-2 victory over the Bears in the Heart of Georgia Classic finale for both sides on Sunday afternoon at Sikes Field.
The Bears (2-2) finished the first of two home tournaments with a pair of wins as the Orange & Black toughed out a 4-2 win over Florida A&M on Saturday before getting a go-ahead 6th-inning grand slam from Tori Hedgecock to upend Austin Peay, 9-7. Saint Joseph's (4-1) closed out the weekend with a tournament-best four triumphs.
