MU Women Second in Own RunFit Sports Invitational Meet
RunFit Sports Invitational Women's Results
MACON, Ga. – Mercer University’s youthful women’s lineup turned in another strong effort to take second place in its own 10th annual RunFit Sports Invitational on Saturday at the Georgia Industrial Children’s Home. The Bears garnered the runner-up finish from among 11 full teams and 97 total runners in the event.
Sophomore Lena Hamvas (Marietta, Ga.) was MU’s top finisher, garnering a third in the overall race standings. Hamvas covered the 5K course in a time of 19:27.38 to lead a caravan of three-consecutive Bears to cross the finish line.
Following Hamvas – in fourth place overall – was fellow sophomore Sammy Woller (Waukesha, Wis.). Woller finished at 19:30.38 for her second-consecutive top-five finish. Fifth place belonged to Mercer senior Christina Kivi (Valdosta, Ga.) at 19:56.30.
The Bears’ final two scoring members were sophomore Kylen Hughes (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) and freshman Iliana Garcia (Mobile, Ala.). Hughes was 10th place overall n a time of 20:24.52, while Garcia was 14th (20:41.23).
