Lady Bisons Top Volleyball

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Mercer junior Amiee Frutchey had a team-high eight kills but the Bears were defeated by Lipscomb 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-22) in Friday night’s Atlantic Sun conference volleyball match at Allen Arena.

 

With the win, Lipscomb extended its A-Sun regular season unbeaten streak to 26 matches and improved to 12-5 (1-0 A-Sun).  In defeat, Mercer fell to 6-13 (0-1 A-Sun).

 

"Overall I'm pleased with how our team performed," Mercer head coach Noelle Rooke.  "Our blocking was good, Charlotte Harris was great on defense and the setters improved their play as the match went on."
 

Frutchey added eight digs in the losing effort.  Harris recorded a match-high 20 digs in the loss.

 

Each team recorded six total team blocks.  Senior Erica Vrvilo tallied a pair of block assists and a block solo against the Lady Bisons.

Freshman Carly Iannarino led the team with 10 assists while Bridget Sheerin contributed eight helpers of her own.

Mercer returns to action on Saturday at Belmont.  Match time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
