Volleyball Announces Addition of Cassie Roy
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer volleyball
team recently received a commitment from Cassie Roy of Palm Harbor,
Fla. in an announcement made by head coach Noelle
Rooke.
“I'm pleased Cassie has committed and I know the excitement is reciprocated,” Rooke said. “Cassie brings a fiery attitude that compliments the aggressive nature of her game. She should make an immediate impact on our program.”
Roy, who was a four-year starter for the Palm Harbor University Hurricanes, helped guide her team to two district championships as well as a Pinellas County Athletic Conference Championship.
In the past two seasons, Roy has been honored as a first-team all-county player as well as receiving the Lady Cane MVP award during her junior and senior seasons. In 2009, Roy participated in the annual Senior All-Star match.
Prior to her commitment, Roy has also played with the Tampa United Volleyball Academy.
In addition to her success on the court, Roy has been a straight-A student while participating in National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society and being selected as Student of the Month. Recently, Roy has spent her time volunteering at a local hospital and working as a peer tutor.
