Hudson Named Third Team All Academic
MACON, Ga. – As the Mercer University women’s soccer team prepares for its first-ever trip to the NCAA Women’s College Cup, senior Kacie Hudson recently added another honor to her indelible career as she was recognized by the College Sports Information Directors of America on their ESPN Academic All American All-District third team.
Hudson has been the anchor on the Bears defensive interior for the past four years and is now reaping the benefits of all the hard work.
To be eligible for All-District status, players must have at least a 3.30 GPA with at least sophomore standing, both academically and athletically, and completed at least two semesters at their current institution. They also must have played in a minimum of 50 percent of the team's games. District III is comprised of Division I schools from Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
“I am very proud of Kacie,” head coach Grant Serafy said. “She is a fine example of a student-athlete here at Mercer – she excels on and off the field and has been a tremendous player for us four years running.”
The Marietta, Ga. native is majoring in business and will graduate in May of 2011. Hudson is a four-time A-Sun All Academic team member and was recently named to the A-Sun All Tournament Team for her performance at the A-Sun Championships.
In four years in the Orange & Black, Hudson has put herself among the program’s elite.
