Soccer Adds Two More Signees to 2010 Incoming Class
MACON, Ga. – Mercer women's soccer
head coach Grant Serafy announced Wednesday the signing of two new
student-athletes to continue their education and play soccer for
the Bears.
Sadie Curry and Jordan Sink will join the list of seven other student athletes that signed on National Signing Day on February 4 and will bring the total of incoming freshmen in 2010 to nine. Curry is a native of Gainesville, Fla. and Sink is a hometown product of Macon's Mount de Sales Academy.
Sink lettered five times in soccer while at Mount de Sales, scoring 37 goals and tallying 29 assists in her career. She has received GISA All-State Honors and was selected to the Telegraph's All-Middle Georgia Team. She was a two-year captain for a Cavaliers team that amassed an impressive 56-18 overall record, including winning the 2008 GISA State Championship where Sink had an assist on the game-winning goal.
Sink was also a member of the highly successful AFC Lightning '92 White Club Team that went 56-8-7 overall during her tenure. Her team won the Region III Premier League title in 2006, 2007 and 2009 and won the prestigious Disney Soccer Showcase in 2008. Jordan's AFC team was also a United States Youth Soccer Association Region III runner-up in 2009.
“We are glad to have Jordan as part of our team,” Serafy said. “She plays for AFC Lightning's '92 squad, which is currently the 11th ranked club team in the country. She has also played for a very successful local high school program. She is a very versatile player and can play in defense or in the midfield. She should make a fine contribution on and off the field to Mercer.”
Curry, was a four-year letter winner in soccer for Eastside High School in Gainesville, Fla. and was a captain for both the Rams and her '92 Leg A Z Hotshots Club Team during her prep career. She was an All-Area First Team selection her sophomore, junior and senior seasons at Eastside. Her club team was a 2008 Atlanta Cup Finalist and was a semi and quarter-finalist in 2009 and 2010 at the Score at the Shore Tournament – one of the nation's premier college soccer showcases held in Tampa, Fla. Curry was also a member of the '92 Florida Olympic Development Program State Team.
“We are excited to have Sadie join our program,” Serafy said. “She is a player that can win balls in the air and a player that can hold the ball at her feet. She is an excellent student which is the type of student-athlete we are looking for at Mercer.”
Both players are exceptional students in the classroom as well being members of National Honor Society. Curry was named a National AP scholar her junior year in high school and Sink will be graduating in the top 15% of her class at Mount de Sales.

Mercer will continue its spring schedule this weekend as they play host to Armstrong Atlantic State at 3:00 p.m. at Mount de Sales Academy in Macon.
