Women’s Golf Receives TrackMan

MACON, Ga. – Thanks to the generosity of one of the women’s golf team’s most ardent supporters, the program has received the most advanced and recognized ball flight system, the TrackMan Pro. The TrackMan Pro is recognized as a top-of-the-line swing analyzing system currently used on the PGA Tour, USGA and The R&A.

A staple for leading club fitters, manufacturers, retailers, universities, academies, instructors, players and broadcast television, the TrackMan Pro is the industry standard for accuracy, flexibility, reliability and ease of use.

“The team and I were so excited to finally get a TrackMan,” Mercer head coach Gary Guyer said. “We have been trying to acquire one since I got here and this is a dream come true.”

The team will gain valuable knowledge from the trackman, including precise measurements of ball flight.

“Knowing your carry yardage makes shot selection so much easier,” Guyer said. “There are several competitions on the system like ‘the combine’ which provide us an opportunity for competition with immediate feedback,” said Coach Guyer.

The TrackMan combine is a standardized test consisting of 60 different shots at selected distances.  Each shot is rated on a scale of 0-100, based on accuracy.  When the combine is completed, the user receives a detailed online report which helps users to identify the strengths and weaknesses.

The Bears tee up the spring season next weekend at the JU Classic on February 5-7.  The event will be held at the Hidden Hills Country Club in Jacksonville, Fla.
