Arthur Named A-Sun Golfer of the Week

MACON, Ga. – After tying for third place at the Coastal Georgia Invitational, Mercer junior Jessica Arthur was named the Atlantic Sun Women's Golfer of the Week in an announcement made by the conference office Wednesday.

In Monday's opening round at the King and Prince Golf Course in Sea Island, Arthur booked a collegiate career-best 78 to lead the 49-golfer field.  On Tuesday, Arthur fired an 84 and wrapped up her showing at the event in a tie for third place overall.  Her two-day total of 162 placed her in a four-way tie for third and helped her outpace 43 competitors in the event.

Arthur's recognition is the first of her career and Mercer's second-straight A-Sun Golfer of the Week award.  Last week, sophomore Lacey Fears garnered the honor after winning the JU Classic on February 7.

The Bears return to action on Sunday, February 26 at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic.  The three-day event is held at Oak Point Golf Club in Kiawah Island, S.C.
