Women’s Golf to Host Fourth EAT A PEACH Collegiate

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's golf team looks to defend its title at the EAT A PEACH Collegiate this weekend, scheduled for two rounds of play on Sunday and Monday.  The action tees off at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday at Oak View Golf Course in Macon.

The 2011 edition is the fourth time Mercer has hosted the event, but marks the first time the team enters the competition as defending champions.  Last year, Mercer bested 10 other teams in the two-round competition to lay claim to the team title.  Mercer's Lacey Fears took individual medalist honors, besting Shorter's Greta Lange in a playoff hole to finish atop the leaderboard.

This year, Mercer welcomes Armstrong Atlantic, Berry College, Coastal Georgia, Gordon College, Oglethorpe University, Piedmont College, Reinhardt University, SCAD Atlanta, Shorter and Truett-McConnell to the event.

Mary Alice Murphy, Aurelie Wiriath, Kimmy Graff, Sarah Louie Brown and Fears comprise Mercer's lineup for the competition.  Kaitlin Marrin, Keri Lynn Carson, Alicia Poole and Jessica Arthur are scheduled to compete as individuals.

Sunday and Monday each feature 18 holes of competition with the awards presentation following competition of play on Monday.
