Women’s Golf Finishes 14th at Lady Paladin Invitational

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Mercer women’s golf team posted a team score of 325 Sunday to finish 14th at the Lady Paladin Invitational.  Freshman Mary Alice Murphy carded an 80 on Sunday to post Mercer’s best finish, a tie for 30th place individually.

 

Chattanooga won the event with a three-day total of 915.  The Mocs outpaced the nearest team, Georgia State, by 14 strokes.

 

Mercer’s three day total of 975 was six strokes behind Wofford for 13th place.  Mercer outshot Presbyterian (982), Detroit-Mercy (996), and Winthrop (998) at the tournament.

 

Sophomore Kimmy Graff carded Mercer’s low round of the day, shooting 79 to finish tied for 52nd.  Sophomore Aurelie Wiriath also finished tied for 52nd after firing 84 Sunday.

 

Freshman Lacey Fears recorded an 82 in the final round and tied for 60th individually while sophomore Alicia Poole shot 90 on Sunday and finished in 86th place.

 

The Lady Paladin Invitational marked Mercer’s final competition of its fall season.  The team resumes competitive play at the Jacksonville University Classic on February 6, 2011.
