Women’s Golf Leads Field at the EAT A PEACH Collegiate

MACON, Ga. – Mercer freshman Lacey Fears carded a one-under, 71 on the first day of the Eat a Peach Collegiate to help the Bears enter the clubhouse in first place.  Mercer’s day-one total of 294 has the Bears 17 strokes ahead of Flagler for the top spot.

 

Flagler College (311), Shorter University (312), Armstrong Atlantic (324) and West Georgia (327) rounded out the top five teams.

 

All told, five Mercer golfers are among the top-ten individuals after day one.

 

Fears was the only player in the 63 golfer field to record a sub-par round.  Fears’ classmate, Mary Alice Murphy shot an even-par 72 and is tied for second place.

 

Mercer junior Alicia Poole recorded a 74 and is tied for fourth place while sophomore Kaitlin Marrin shot a 75 and is in sixth place.  Sophomore Aurelie Wiriath used 77 strokes on Sunday and is tied for seventh place individually.

 

Kayli Wicker and Keri Lynn Carson and Kimmy Graff all signed for 79’s and are tied for 14th place at the event.  Sophomore Jessica Arthur fired an 83 and entered the clubhouse tied for 31st place.

 

The second and final round of the 2010 EAT A PEACH Collegiate begins tomorrow at 8:30 a.m.
