Women’s Golf Third at Coastal Georgia Invitational

SEA ISLAND, Ga. – Freshman Lacey Fears fired a 78 to lead the Mercer on day one of the Coastal Georgia Invitational at the Retreat Golf Course.  As a team, the Bears used 319 strokes on Monday and are third among the eight-team field.

 

Shorter leads the tournament with an opening round 313, while SCAD-Savannah sits second a score of 315.

 

Mercer’s 319 ranks the Bears ahead of host Coastal Georgia (344), West Georgia (345), Young Harris (354), SCAD Atlanta (376) and North Georgia (396).

 

Fears’ 78 ranks the freshman third in the 102 golfer field entering Tuesday. 

 

Junior Alicia Poole and sophomore Aurelie Wiriath posted 80’s on day one while sophomore Kaitlin Marrin needed 82 strokes.  Junior Keri Lynn Carson rounded out Mercer’s competitors with a 93 on Monday.

 

The second and final round begins Tuesday at 8:21 a.m.
