Angie Nelp joined the Mercer women's basketball staff in the winter of 2011.  Nelp comes to Mercer after most recently serving as Assistant Director of Basketball Operations at Marquette University.

 

Prior to her time at Marquette, Nelp spend one season as a graduate assistant coach on the Arkansas women's basketball staff under then coach Tom Collen.

 

Nelp played collegiate basketball at Colorado State, racking up 1,397 points, 629 rebounds, 356 assist and 261 steals in four seasons.  During her time with the Rams, she earned Moutain West Defensive Player of the Year honors, a first-team all-MWC selection and a Kodak All-America Honorable Mention in her senior season.

 

At Colorado State, she also earned academic all-conference honors in all four seasons.

 

After graudating from Colorado State in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in health and exercise science, she went on to spend two seasons with the NWBL Colorado Chill and one season with 08 Stockholm in Sweden.  As a professional, she helped lead the Chill to the 2005 NWBL title and the 08 Stockholm to the 2003 Swedish national crown.

 

After completing her professional career, Nelp returned to the United Stats and served as the head girls' basketball coach at Yorktown High in Yorktown, Indiana.  During that time, she also worked as a science teacher at Northwestern Middle School.
