Hagins Signs with Mercer Women’s Basketball

MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women's basketball coaching staff picked up its third commitment of the 2012 signing class on Wednesday, inking Domonique Hagins of South River High School in Edgewater, Maryland to a National Letter of Intent.

Hagins joins Jessica Prieto (Laredo, Texas) and Kate Alemann (Auckland, New Zealand) as the newest members of the program, set for arrival in Macon in the fall of 2012.

Mercer's most recent acquisition was a four-year varsity point guard at South River under guidance of head coach Mike Zivic, helping the team rise as high as a No. 7 ranking in the Baltimore Sun Team Poll.  With Hagins at the point, the team took regional runner-up honors in both her junior and senior seasons.

Her final year at South River marked her most productive campaign, as she finished the year with averages of 13.6 points, four rebounds, six assists and three steals per game.

Hagins' standout career saw her take one Baltimore Sun Player of the Week award, four all-county recognitions and an All-Metro second team nod in her senior season.   She also drew attention from the Washington Post, earning an All-Metro Honorable Mention.

Her career also included four state championships and a fourth place finish at D1 Nationals as a member of the Maryland Lady Shooting Stars AAU team, headed by Johnny Mack.
