Women’s Basketball in the Pink Zone Monday Night
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer women’s basketball team is set to host the annual “Pink Zone” game on Monday in a matchup with Stetson. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Those who wear pink to the game will gain access for just one dollar. All proceeds from the game go towards breast cancer research and fans will have the opportunity to donate to enter a raffle for great prizes.
Mercer’s game with Stetson marks the second go around between the teams this season. On Jan. 15, Mercer dropped a 67-59 decision in DeLand, Fla. In that game, freshman Brittnee Hazel led the Bears with 16 points and nine rebounds.
SCOUTING THE HATTERS
Stetson enters Monday’s game on a two-game winning streak after downing Kennesaw State, 65-52 on Saturday night. The Hatters are currently 13-11 (9-6 A-Sun) and are locked in a four-way tie for third place in the conference standings.
Stetson features a balanced scoring attack, with three players averaging over 12 points a game. Victoria McGowan leads the squad at 15.5 points per contest.
GAME NOTES
Mercer and Stetson are the two most-tenured schools in the Atlantic Sun and have met on the hardwood 57 times. If Mercer can top Stetson, the all-time series will be even at 29 apiece.
As a team, Mercer averages just 15.6 personal fouls per game. Mercer ranks 65th in the country in fouls per game and only one player has fouled out multiple times (Sharmesia Smith - 2 times).
