Georgia Tech Next on Tap for Women’s Basketball
ATLANTA, Ga. – After suffering a pair of three-point defeats in its last two outings, Mercer looks to rebound as it challenges Georgia Tech on Tuesday night. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.

MACON, Ga. – Mercer placed three players in double figure scoring, but UNC Asheville erased a six-point deficit with 4:04 to go and ultimately prevailed, 76-73 in Wednesday afternoon’s non-conference women’s basketball game.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The Yellow Jackets are 9-4 and currently riding a season-high six-game winning streak. In its last outing, Georgia Tech downed Washington, 60-27 in Seattle.
Georgia Tech features four returning starters from last year’s team that finished 23-10 (8-6 ACC). This season, the Yellow Jackets were picked to finish fifth in the ACC in the league’s preseason poll.
Senior guard Alex Montgomery is the reigning ACC player of the week after leading the team to two wins over Portland State and Washington. Montgomery netted 14 points against Portland State before tallying 20 points at Washington.
GAME NOTES
Briana Williams has scored 10 or more points in nine of Mercer’s 10 games this season. The only time Williams was held to under 10 points was Dec. 20 versus UNC Asheville.
Freshman Sharnea Boykin has been on the floor for 353 of Mercer’s 400 minutes of game time this season. Aside Mercer’s game at Georgia Southern (where she missed eight minutes due to injury) Boykin has averaged 35.7 minutes per game.
Mercer and Georgia Tech have not met on the hardwood since 2006. Georgia Tech has topped Mercer in the last four meetings between the teams.
