Cross Country Post Top 10 Finishes at A-Sun Championship
STETSON, Fla. – The Mercer men's and women's
cross country teams both placed in the top 10 at the Atlantic Sun
Conference championship in DeLand, Fla. Saturday morning with the
men finishing seventh and the women ninth.
The young Mercer men were led by freshman Jacob Law who placed 14th
individually with a time of 26:50 in the 8k event. Senior Roland Adams posted the second best Mercer time with a 27:32, good for
31st. Rounding out Mercer's top five was Chris Svidesskis
(Fr., 28:36, 46th), Marc Kushinka (Jr., 28:37, 47th), and Taylor Snyder (Fr., 29:26, 56th).
As has been the case all year, freshman Kacie Niemann led the
Mercer women with a 13th place finish and continued her streak of
finishing in the top 25 of each race this season. Niemann saved her
best for the conference championship, posting an 18:32 in the 5k
race, her best of the year.
Clara Densmore just missed on a 5k personal best finishing 54th at
20:24. Following Densmore was Christian Kivi (So., 20:58, 59th),
Karen Dorris (Sr., 21:13, 61st), Kasie Knapper (Fr., 22:07, 64th).
Along with Niemann and Densmore, Kivi, Dorris and freshman Hannah
Stark all posted a personal best.
Kennesaw State University won the men's title while
Jacksonville University captured the women's crown.
