Men's Tennis is Super on Sunday in Sweep of Georgia Southwestern

MACON, Ga. – Mercer’s men’s tennis team evened its 2011 spring record at 1-1 with a 7-0 blanking of Georgia Southwestern University at the Peddy Tennis Center. The Bears swept all three doubles matches to earn the first team point of the day and then ran through all six singles competitions without dropping a set.

In doubles play, Pierre Tefelski and Peter Tauchner, playing at No. 1 doubles, and Guilherme Frias and David Barton, at No. 3 doubles, both won by identical 8-1 scores over their GSW foes. Returning players Fernando Armendaris and Evandro Rosindo won at No. 2 doubles, 8-4.

In singles competition, Tefelski breezed in his first set against Vincent Pinones, 6-1, and had to work a bit harder in the second set for a 7-5 win. At second singles, it was a similar situation for Tauchner, who won 6-0 and then had to battle for a 7-6 (7-3) second-set win.

The Bears had little problem in the Nos. 3-6 singles matches, as Armendaris, Rosindo, Frias and  Barton all dominated their Georgia Southwestern foes.
