MU Men's Tennis Tops Jacksonville State

 

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – Mercer's men's tennis team picked up a non-conference win at Jacksonville State University, 4-3, on Tuesday afternoon. The victory improved the Bears' record to 8-11 overall.

 

MU won all three doubles matches to garner the team point for the tandem competition. Winning for the Bears were the duo of Evandro Rosindo and Peter Tauchner at No. 1, David Barton and Pierre Tafelski at No. 2 and John Bauerle and Guilherme Frias at No. 3 doubles.

 

Heading into singles with a 1-0 lead, Mercer won the Nos. 2, 3 and 5 singles matches for the 4-3 win.

 

At No. 2 singles, Tauchner topped JSU's Axel Sundberg, 6-3, 6-3 and Rosindo was a 6-2, 6-0 victor over Nenad Marcec at the No. 3 slot. Barton, a junior, knocked off the Gamecocks' Felipe Watanabe, 6-2, 6-3.
