Mercer Men's Tennis Cruises Past Jacksonville State, 7-0

 

MACON, Ga. – Mercer's men's tennis team evened its 2011 ledger with a 7-0 non-conference win over Jacksonville State University at the Peddy Tennis Center. The Bears are now 3-3 overall.

 

MU won two of three doubles matches to secure the first team point of the day and never looked back. The Bears swept all six singles matches in straight sets to earn its second-consecutive shutout of an opponent and third blanking overall.

 

The doubles tandems of Evandro Rosindo and Peter Tauchner at No. 2 and Fernando Armendaris and Guilherme Frias at No. 3, had identical 8-4 wins over their JSU foes.

 

In single competition, Pierre Tafelski, Tauchner, Armendaris, Rosindo, Frias and David Barton won at the Nos. 1-6 slots, respectively. Tauchner won a 6-3, 7-5 decision, but no other Bear lost more than three games in any set.
