Men’s Soccer to Participate in Coaches Versus Cancer
MACON, Ga. – In an effort to help countless people across the country, the Mercer men’s soccer team will participate in the Coaches versus Cancer drive to help raise funds for cancer research during its game against USC Upstate on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. at Bear Field.
October is cancer awareness month and head coach Brad Ruzzo and his players have agreed to participate in this worthy cause in an effort to help others.
“I think almost everyone at some point in their lives has been affected by cancer one way or another and it’s events like these that help raise the necessary funds needed to continue the fight for a cure,” Ruzzo said.
To raise money, the soccer team will be sponsoring a raffle in which it will be giving away an autographed official team jersey and an autographed Brine soccer ball as the main prizes. The winning tickets will be announced during halftime of Wednesday night’s game by a representative from the American Cancer Society.
If you are interested in purchasing a ticket for $5 each for a chance to win the prizes, or to just make a donation, you can either attend Wednesday night’s game and purchase a ticket at the front gate or contact a Mercer men’s soccer staff member.
For more information on how to purchase a raffle ticket in advance of Wednesday's game, please contact director of men’s soccer operations Jason Farhadi at (478) 301-5218 or email at farhadi_jb@mercer.edu.
