Hager joined Mercer
University’s staff in 2010-11 as the Bears fielded the
school’s inaugural men’s lacrosse team.
Hager spent 2009-2010 in Manchester, England coaching club
lacrosse at Manchester University and developed club lacrosse with
the Timperley Club. He also had a role in hosting the World
Lacrosse Games with the English Lacrosse Association.
Hager was a two-sport athlete at Hobart College, starring on its
NCAA Division I lacrosse team, as well as its DIII football
team.
In lacrosse, Hager was Hobart’s team captain in 2008-09 and
started all 14 games his senior year, while tallying 13 starts (out
of 14 games) his junior year as a defender. He had his first start
for HC as a sophomore against Canisius College in 2007.
In football, Hager led the Liberty League with 134 tackles in
2008, which set a school record at Hobart for tackles in a season.
He was twice named first team All-Liberty League (2007 and 2008)and
was a second team All-American as a senior (2008). His career
totals include 288 tackles, which ranks second all-time for
Hobart.
Hager is a graduate of Salamanca High School and was a three-sport
athlete, lettering in lacrosse, football, and wrestling. He was
named first-team Class C All-State and Big 30 Defensive Player of
the Year in football in 2004. He also rushed for nearly 1,000 yards
as a senior.
Hager will work with every aspect of MU’s operations. On the
field, he will have primary duties with the Bears’ defense.
He will head up the recruiting efforts for the program, as
well.
