Bears Lacrosse to Scrimmage Saturday; Event Free and Open to the Public!

 

MACON, Ga. - Mercer University's men's lacrosse program - which begins play as an NCAA Division I intercollegiate program in 2011 - will scrimmage a club team from Georgia Tech this Saturday (Jan. 29) at 1 p.m. at Bear Field.

 

The event is free of charge and open to the public.

 

"This is a great opportunity for lacrosse fans or anyone who is curious about the sport to experience the game," Mercer Head Coach Jason Childs said. "Tech has a long club tradition in lacrosse and our team has the honor of beng the first-ever NCAA Division I intercollegiate men's lacorsse program in the state of Georgia.

 

"We hope that as many people as possible can join us as we make the final preparations for the 2011 season and prepare to represent Mercer, Macon and all of Georgia in the sport of lacrosse."

 

The Bears will also scrimmage Suwanee on Feb. 5 before opening the season for real at Ohio State on February 12. Mercer has its first-ever home game on Feb. 16 (4 p.m.) versus VMI.
