Lacrosse Looks for First Win at Bellarmine

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Mercer University’s inaugural men’s lacrosse team will head to the Bluegrass State in search of its first-ever win as it takes on Bellarmine University. Face-off is slated for 1 p.m.

The Bears, 0-2 on the year, have done the “history tour” after getting their first-ever game and first-ever home game out of the way last week. With all the pomp-and-circumstance that accompanies rolling out an intercollegiate sport, the Bears seem ready to concentrate on the business at hand of the 2011 season.

After a 20-2 loss at Ohio State in its first contest, last Wednesday’s home-opening loss to VMI, 15-9, showed the MU team could muster some offensive punch. Nine different players scored goals for Mercer, which started an entirely freshman line-up.

Cole Branch and Brett Eisenmann each have two goals scored on the season, thus far.

The Bears will look for win No. 1 versus  Bellarmine (1-0), which won its season opener over Detroit-Mercy, 9-6, last week.
