Mens Golf Wraps Up Brickyard Collegiate Ahead of Gonzaga, Boston College
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's golf team recorded a team score of 294 in Sunday's final round of the Brickyard Collegiate Championship to place 13th at the event. The Bears' three-day total of 893 outpaced Gonzaga (905) and Boston College (944) at the event.
Georgia (857) captured the tournament title by one stroke over defending national champions Augusta State. Georgia senior Russell Henley took home the individual championship for the second-straight year with a three-day total of 206 (-10).
Mercer junior Josh Cone carded a two-under 70 on Sunday and finished the even tied for 39th place individually. Cone's classmate Stefan Labuschagne had the best individual finish for the Bears, tying for 35th with a total score of 222.
Sophomore Matt Kocolowski needed 79 strokes to complete the 7,175 yard course on Sunday and finished tied for 45th place.
Redshirt sophomore John Gregory Joseph posted his lowest score of the event on Sunday, carding a 74 and finishing tied for 58th place overall. Junior Thomas Holmes rounded out Mercer's scoring contributors with a 75 on Sunday. Holmes placed tied for 75th individually.
Freshman Mookie DeMoss competed as an individual and wrapped up the event tied for 75th (234). Alex Street also participated as an individual and finished in 82nd place.
Mercer returns to action at the Memphis Intercollegiate on Oct. 25-26. The tournament marks Mercer's final contest of the fall season and will be played at Colonial Country Club in Memphis, Tenn.
