Kocolowski Takes Medalist Honors at US Open Local Qualifier
ORLANDO, Fla. – Mercer golfer Matt Kocolowski shot a four-under, 68 to win the US Open local qualifier at the Walt Disney resort in Orlando, Fla. on Thursday. Kocolowski outpaced 93 other competitors at the event.
Kocolowski now takes aim at the sectional championship June 7 at McArthur Golf Club in Hobe Sound, Fla. The Apopka, Fla. native is one of five players at the local qualifier to earn a berth into the sectional championship.
“I played real solid from tee to green,” Kocolowski said. “It felt great to stay mentally in the round. I’ve been close for a while and it feels wonderful to finally put together a solid round.”
The 2010 US Open is scheduled for June 14-20 at the Pebble Beach resort in Monterey, Calif.
