Men's Golf Earns Presidential Scholastic Award
MACON, Ga. – The Mercer men's golf
team has been awarded the Presidential Scholastic Award, as was
announced on Sunday evening. The award is given bi-annually to the
Mercer athletic team with the highest cumulative GPA in a given
semester.
The men's golf team completed the 2009 fall semester with a cumulative GPA of 3.115.
“I'm really proud for our guys for working so hard in school,” head coach Andrew Tredway said. “To be part such a good golf program and handle the rigors of school says a lot about our student athletes.”
The award was announced at the End of the Year Athletics Award Banquet held in the University Center. Tredway was called to the stage to receive a plaque in recognition of the team's achievement. Another plaque which denotes the team's accomplishment will remain in the office of Athletics Director Bobby Pope.
The men's golf team recently wrapped up its spring season with a fifth place finish at the Atlantic Sun Championship on April 21.
