Thomas Honored as A-Sun "Player of the Week" by CollegeSportsMadness.com

MACON, Ga. – Mercer men’s basketball sophomore Bud Thomas was named as the “Player of the Week” for the Atlantic Sun Conference by the CollegeSportsMadness.com web site. Thomas led the Bears to a 1-1 week, including last Thursday’s win at Georgia Tech.

On the week, Thomas gave a balanced performance by averaging 8.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.0 assists per game.  In the win over the Yellow Jackets, the Highlands Ranch, Colo. native tallied 12 points and grabbed seven boards.

Thus far in 2011-12, Thomas has started every game for the Bears. He is averaging 9.5 points and 4.8 rebounds per game, while shooting better than 47 percent from the field.

This is the third-consecutive week during which CollegeSportsMadenss.com has recognized a player from Mercer’s team. Langston Hall was recognized last week and Jakob Gollon the week prior.
