Men's Hoops Debuts in 2011-12 CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Poll

MACON, Ga. – Mercer University's men's basketball team  – off to its best start since 2004-05 with a 7-3 overall record – earned some recognition for its good beginning to 2011-12 by receiving a vote in the latest CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 poll.

"We are certainly very grateful for the recognition," MU head coach Bob Hoffman said. "It's an important step that there are people out there who recognize the success of our program and that this team is playing at a high level right now. There's still a long way to go this season, but it's nice to see the Bears included among the nation's best."

Mercer received a single point to earn a spot among 27 schools in the "Others Receiving Votes" outside the top-25 teams.

The Mid-Major Poll is made up of teams from the following conferences: America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Great West, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt, West Coast.
