Men’s Basketball Gaining Votes in CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top-25 Poll
MACON, Ga. - The Mercer men’s basketball team - off to its best start in nine years - is featured in the most recent CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top-25 poll, released on Monday, January 23.
The Bears received five votes in the poll, placing Mercer among 20 programs featured in the receiving votes section of the poll. Mercer’s five votes marks the highest total for the team this season after debuting in the poll with a single vote on December 12, 2011.
Mercer currently boasts a 15-7 (7-2 A-Sun) and is gaining momentum after winning four-straight in A-Sun action. All told, the Bears are winners in seven of their last eight and haven’t lost consecutive games since following a three-point overtime loss at Seton Hall with a 72-58 slip at Georgia on December 20, 2011.
The Mid-Major Poll is made up of teams from the following conferences: America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Great West, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt, West Coast.
