Mercer's Hall Joins Athletes in Action for Macedonia/Kosovo Trip

MACON, Ga. – Mercer University men's basketball player Langston Hall has had quite a beginning to his collegiate career. After starting all 33 games at point guard for the Bears last winter, Hall is spending the next two weeks (May 20-June 2) playing in Macedonia and Kosovo with Athletes in Action.

Hall is a part of AIA's 10-member team, which also includes players from Baylor, Colorado, Florida, Kansas, Kansas State, Northwestern State and Indiana State. The squad is coached by Baylor assistant coach Tim Maloney.

"This is a great opportunity for Langston to see and experience many new and exciting things," said MU head coach Bob Hoffmann, himself a veteran of numerous overseas trips with AIA. "He is not only going to get the chance to interact and play alongside young men from other Division I schools, but he will also get a taste of international basketball competition, as well as meet players and fans from other countries.

"The trip will give him some lifetime memories."

The AIA team members all gathered in Chicago on May 19. From there, the team flew to Dusseldorf, Germany and then on to Thessaloniki, Greece to begin its two-week slate of events. The trip includes a six-team tournament in Macedonia (featuring teams from AIA, Macedonia, Poland, Netherlands, Bulgaria and Torus) before moving on to face the Kosovo National Team (in a nationally-televised game in Kosovo) on May 31. AIA squad members will also be involved in coaching clinics, outreach/ministry opportunities and taking in the local culture.

Hall was named to the Atlantic Sun Conference All-Freshman Team this past season. He averaged 8.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. He led the Bears' team with 54 three-point baskets made, hitting nearly 40 percent from beyond the arc.
