Hall Nets "Newcomer of the Week" from A-Sun

MACON, Ga. – The Atlantic Sun Conference has announced that Mercer University freshman point guard Langston Hall has been named as its “Newcomer of the Week” in men’s basketball. The award covers the period of February 14-21.

In that span, the Bears (13-16, 10-8 A-Sun) played three games and went 2-1. The team – currently in fifth place in the A-Sun standings – locked down a berth in the A-Sun championship tournament (being hosted by MU, March 2-5).

Mercer has qualified for the A-Sun’s post-season tournament all 27 years of its existence.

Hall, a native of Atlanta, Ga. and a graduate of Chamblee High School, had a stellar week for the Bears. He averaged 11.3 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. The 6-4 point guard also gave off 5.0 assists per game and made 2.7 steals per game.

Hall shot a pristine 60 percent (6-of-10) from three point range and was 13-of-29 (45 percent) from the field, overall.

Hall had a career-high 22 points in Mercer’s loss to Jacksonville University, the A-Sun’s third place team, last Sunday evening. He also tied his career-best of seven assists in a game two days earlier in a win at the University of North Florida.
