Mercer Baseball Ready for Orange and Black World Series

MACON, Ga. – After almost a month of hard work and long days on the field and in the weight room, the Mercer baseball team will culminate the fall season with its annual Orange and Black World Series from October 24-30.

The series is slated for five games; with game one scheduled for October 24 at 7 p.m. Games two and three will be on October 26 and 28 at 7 p.m. Game four is on October 29 at 11 a.m. and the game five finale is set for October 30 at 2:30 p.m. All games are at Claude Smith Field and free to the public.

The make-up for both teams in the series will be decided in a draft from the 2012 roster. Senior Brandon Love and redshirt junior David Randall will be representing the orange team and seniors Colby Collins and Jacob Matthews captain the black squad.

There are sure to be many new faces making their debut at Claude Smith Field, as the Bears feature 18 newcomers compared to just 13 returning letterwinners from their 2011 squad that went 39-20 overall and finished the season ranked #56 in the National Ratings Percentage Index (RPI).
