Tanis Named to CollegeBaseballInsider.com All-America Second Team
MACON, Ga. – Former Mercer baseball third baseman Jacob Tanis continues to rack up recognition after being named to the CollegeBaseballInsider.com All-American second team on Tuesday morning.
For Tanis, the honor is his fourth All-American distinction after being named to the 2011 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association All-American second team, the 2010 Louisville Slugger All-American third team and the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American squad in 2009.
The Peachtree City, Ga. native was one of just 38 players selected to either the first or second team by the publication and joined Jacksonville's Adam Brett Walker and ETSU's Bo Reeder as one of only three Atlantic Sun Players honored.
After a brilliant three-year career in the Orange and Black, Tanis was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 13th round (406th overall pick) of the 2011 MLB First-Year Player Draft.
Currently, Tanis is playing in Short-Season Class A Ball with the Vermont Lake Monsters. Through 18 games, Tanis is hitting .231 with four doubles, a home run and nine runs scored.
