Three Bears Earn Southeastern Baseball Awards

MACON, Ga. – The honors keep trickling in for the Mercer baseball team after its record setting 2010 campaign, the latest coming from Southeastern Baseball.com

Head coach Craig Gibson, 2010 graduate Michael Langley and rising junior Jacob Tanis were all recognized in various capacities by SEBaseball.com for their efforts this past season.

Gibson was named SEBaseball.com's Head Coach of the Year in the Atlantic Sun Conference after guiding Mercer to its first A-Sun Title since 1983. Gibson led the Bears to a 38-24 record and their first ever NCAA appearance in his seventh season at Mercer.

Langley and Tanis were each selected to the All A-Sun first team for their breakout seasons. Tanis, a 26th round draft pick by the Colorado Rockies in the 2010 MLB Draft, led the club with 22 home runs, 88 RBI and 197 total bases. Langley, meanwhile, closed out a stellar four-year career by leading the squad with a .392 batting average on the strength of 103 hits and 25 doubles.
