2009 Statistics

2009 (Junior): Made the transformation from middle reliever to number one starter for the Bears … posted a 2-4 record over 15 appearances, 12 of which coming in a starting role … posted a 5.55 ERA, tops among Mercer starting pitchers … set team-highs in innings pitched (71.1) and strikeouts (76) … held opposing batters to a .272 batting average, including a .220 clip against right-handed hitters … pitched at least five innings in 10 starts … had five or more strikeouts in six starts … recorded back-to-back career-high 10 strikeout performances against Lipscomb (March 6) and USC Upstate (March 20) … notched his first collegiate complete game and first win of the season after letting up just three earned runs while striking out eight in a 8-3 win over Stetson (April 9) … pitched a strong 6.1 innings, allowing just one earned run while striking out nine in a no-decision against Jacksonville (May 9) … took the ball in the Bears A-Sun Championship first round match-up against Belmont (May 21) and pitched well, going 6.1 innings allowing just two earned runs while striking out four. 

2008 (Redshirt Sophomore): Taken in the 48th round (1,.424) by the Tampa Bay Rays … Appeared in a career-high 21 games coming out of the Mercer bullpen, the third most appearances by a returning hurler … Totaled 37.2 innings in most productive season with Mercer after battling injuries first three seasons … Led all relievers with 34 strikeouts … Led the team with .902 strikeouts per inning pitched … Came up one strikeout shy of a career high with six in 3.0 innings of scoreless work against USC Upstate, earning first career save in the process … Earned first win since 2006 against Stetson, going three innings and allowing no runs on two hits (3/28) … Struck out three batters in back-to-back appearances against Jacksonville (4/5) and FAMU (4/8) … Went a career-high 5.0 innings against Gardner-Webb, striking out four while allowing two runs on four hits (4/25) … Throwing against Lipscomb for the second consecutive day, picked up the win in 1.2 innings of scoreless work (5/9) … Struck out three batters in each of last two appearances against Belmont (5/15) and Stetson (5/21). 

2007 (Sophomore): Redshirted while recovering from Tommy John surgery. 

2006 (Redshirt Freshman): Competed in first full season after sustaining season-ending injury early in 2005 … Appeared in seven games, throwing 10.0 innings while striking out 12 batters … Fanned a career-high seven batters in 4.1 innings against Rider (3/14). 

2005 (Freshman): Received a redshirt after suffering an injury early in the season after making two appearances and no starts … Tossed 1.0 perfect inning against Alabama State (2/20). 

High School: Earned three letters for coach Eric McCranie at Clarke Central High School ... Was team's top pitcher junior and senior seasons ... Also lettered one year in basketball and football.
