Bears Clutch Final Win and Sweep Over UTC

Macon,GA – The Bears picked up their third win today over the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga for a conference sweep.
How It Happened
Both teams had a three up three down in the first inning. The Bears retired the Mocs in the top with a double play from Avery Barton and Rebeca Laudino. Bailey Ledvina walked to start the bottom of the second and was advanced by Tori Hedgecock and Parris Wiggs. Ledvina was left stranded on third to keep the game tied at zero to finish the second.
UTC got the first run of the game on one hit. Lillian Wilkerson was hit by a pitch to start off the bottom of the third. She advanced all the way to third after a gorgeous double to left field from Laudino. Barton flied out to the wall to bring Wilkerson home and tie it at one going into the fourth. The Bears held with two on base in the fifth and had hitless innings for the fifth, sixth, and seventh.
Now in extra innings, Mercer served a three up three down in the top of the eighth. Kylie Helm singled to center but was left on base. The Bears sat the Mocs down in order at the top of the ninth. Tori Hedgecock was first up and hit a rocket homer to left field to lead the Bears to a 2-1 victory.
Up Next
The Bears will be at home on Tuesday to face Georgia Tech at 6:00 p.m. before traveling to Knoxville, TN for the Tennessee Invitational on Thursday.
