Bears Finish Last Day at Bubly Invitational

Gainesville, FL – Mercer concluded play at the Bubly Invitational this morning with a loss against #24 Ragin' Cajuns.
How It Happened
Louisiana got the first hit of the game, but would not bring it home. The Bears were served a three up three down to finish the first inning 0-0. Mercer returned the favor in the top of the second with Katie Rearley picking up two strikeouts. Bailey Ledvina singled to centerfield for Mercer first run and was followed by a single from Avery Barton. Mercer did not bring them home and finished the second scoreless. The Ragin' Cajuns picked up momentum in the third getting three runs on four hits. Alyssa Woods walked to start the bottom of the third and was brought home due to an error of Kylie Helm. Rebeca Laudino also reached base on a error and was advanced thanks to a SAC bunt from Ledvina. The Bears finished the third trailing 3-2.
Mercer's defense held strong with a three up three down in the fourth and the fifth. Laudino singled to third to juice the bases after two walks. A pitching change left them on to end the fourth and nothing offensively happening in the fifth. Grace Taylor stepped in the circle to start the sixth and left one runner on base. Kylie Helm singled through the right side, but remained on base. The Ragin' Cajuns took the game 3-2.
Up Next
Mercer will return home this week for their only home game of March on Wednesday, March 15. They will host Alabama State University at 5:00 p.m.
