Bears take 12-10 decision on Sunday
Â
The Terriers (30-10, 8-1 SoCon) tied the game in the top of the ninth with three runs on two homers. John Dempsey hit a solo shot, while Brennen Dorighi belted a two-run homer to center that allowed Wofford to pull even.
Â
In the bottom of the ninth, Will Mapes beat out an infield single with one out to set up Knight's heroics. Knight turned on the first pitch from Dalton Rhadans and hit it over the wall in left field to give the Bears (32-8, 7-2 SoCon) the win.
Â
Mercer pounded out 16 hits in a consistent offensive effort to salvage the series.
Â
Collin Price was 3 for 5 with a double, a three-run homer and four RBIs. Colby Thomas added three hits, including a solo homer, and he stole two bases. Knight had two hits out of the leadoff spot, including the game-winning homer.
Â
The Terriers held a 4-2 advantage before the Bears received a three-run homer from Price.
Â
Mercer extended its lead to 6-4 in the fourth on Will Mapes solo bomb to right center.
Â
Wofford reclaimed the advantage for a short time in the top of the sixth with three runs, including a two-run double by Nolen Hester.

However, the Bears answered again in the bottom of the panel on Thomas' 17th home run of the campaign to tie the game.
Â
Mapes again came through in the seventh, blooping a single into right field that sent Holton McGaha plateward.
Â
The Bears took a 10-7 lead in the eighth as Blake Schmitt blasted a two-run, ground-rule double that bounced over the wall in left center, setting the stage for a wild ninth inning.
Â
Jackson Kelley (5-0) received the win for Mercer.
Â
Rhadans (0-1) suffered the loss after giving up four runs on five hits in two-plus innings.
Â
The Bears will travel to Alabama on Wednesday to play Jacksonville State. First pitch is slated for 7 p.m. ET.
