Schanen’s hot start pushes her up 11 spots into top-40
WOLCOTT, Colo. – Payton Schanen carded a two-over-par 74 despite Mercer dropping four spots into a tie for 10th-place after round two at the Golfweek Conference Challenge on Tuesday at the Red Sky Golf Club's Fazio Course.

The Bears shot a collective 16-over-par 304 Tuesday while paired with host Denver and SMU during the second 18 holes of this week's tournament. Mercer and Louisville are locked in a tie for 10th place.

MERCER ON THE TEAM LEADERBOARD
Mercer is only one shot outside of the top half of the 18-team field despite dropping four spots after the second day of action in Colorado. Host Denver, which Mercer was paired with moved up three spots into first place. The Bears are within five strokes of seventh place (SMU).

MERCER ON THE INDIVIDUAL LEADERBOARD
Payton Schanen started off strong with a two-under-par front nine that included four birdies on No. 1, 5, 7 and 9. However, Schanen shot four-over-par on the back nine to card a 74 and enter Wednesday's final round tied for 33rd at six-over-par.

Karina Kukkonen and Lauren Lightfritz, both of whom were inside the top-15 individually after round one, dropped back slightly with five-over-par and four-over-par rounds, respectively.

WEDNESDAY'S PAIRINGS
Mercer will pair up with host Louisville (+25) and Central Arkansas (+26) on Wednesday. The Bears will tee off at 11 a.m. (ET). Round three can be followed via live scoring using GolfStat.com.
