All Mercer Starters Reach base In Loss To Kennesaw State

MACON - Mercer got contributions from every part of its lineup, as all nine starters reached base safely, but the Bears fell to the Kennesaw State Owls, 5-4, on Tuesday at OrthoGeorgia Park.

Junior Bryant Olson (0-2) took the loss on the mound for Mercer (15-12). Senior Fred Wilson started the ballgame and went five innings, surrendering one run on three hits, walking one and striking out one.

Offensively, the Bears were led by sophomore Ty Dalley, who went 3-for-5 on the night with a home run and two RBI. Senior Noah Best put together a noteworthy day at the plate as well, going 2-for-4 with a RBI. Junior Jackson Cherry also helped out for Mercer, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding a double and a walk.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 1-0, the Bears first put runs on the board in the fourth inning. Dalley put Mercer on the board with a one-out solo home run off freshman Bo Rhudy.

The game remained tied until the very next inning, when the Bears got going again on offense. which brought the lead to 4-1. The Bears were unable to hold the lead as Kennesaw State scored four times over the remaining four innings to grab the 5-4 win.
