In-State Rivalry Welcomes Kennesaw State to Macon

Saturday, April 6, 2013 – 10 a.m.

The Mercer men's and women's tennis teams move into the final month of the 2013 spring season looking for a few more wins and will welcome in in-state rival Kennesaw State to the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center this Saturday.

The Mercer women come in at 1-4 in conference play while Kennesaw sits with a 2-3 record heading into Saturday's match. The Bears are one of two teams sitting outside the top six to clinch a spot in the A-Sun Tournament.

With just three league matches remaining in the season, the Bears will look to take advantage of the home court as all three will be in Macon and two of which are against team directly ahead of them in the standings.

The Owls defeated the Bears last season 7-0 up in Kennesaw, but KSU is just 2-3 in A-Sun play with wins over Lipscomb and Northern Kentucky. Kennesaw State is led by Virginie Stein who is 8-7 at her No. 1 singles position.

Mercer is paced by senior Lucie Payrat, who is riding a two-match winning streak and is 6-7 at her No. 2 singles spot on the Bears' roster. MU's No. 1, freshman Isabel Dennis has had some close matches of late and both she and Payrat will look to set the tone at the No. 1 doubles position as well.
