Bears Win Two of Three Brackets on Final Day of UTC Baras Fall Classic

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Lucie Payrat won the Gold Flight consolation bracket and also placed second – with teammate Jennifer Lada – in the Gold Flight doubles championship bracket on the final day of the UTC Steve Baras Fall Classic for women's tennis.

Payrat defeated MacKenzie Bishop of North Alabama in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4 in her singles match-up. Payrat was the only Bears' player left in singles play.

In the doubles bout, Payrat and Lada battled Kaylene Chadwell and Jenna Nurik of host UT-Chattanooga, but eventually fell by an 8-5 margin.

In the Platinum doubles flight, the MU tandem of sophomore Amanda Bertani and newcomer Melanie Schumilas brought home the consolation bracket crown when their opponents from Lipscomb were unable to compete due to an injury.
