Women Hoopsters Visit Local Children’s Hospital

MACON, Ga. – Members of the Mercer women’s basketball team recently gathered to lift the spirits of children at the Children’s Hospital of Central Georgia on Friday.  In one of the first formal meetings for the 2011-12 team, players took time out of their summer schedule to decorate and distribute cookies to children at the facility.

Five returners (Sharnea Boykin, Kendra Grant, Brittnee Hazel, Shari Smith and Briana Williams) were joined by eight newcomers on Friday, marking the team’s first official public appearance.  Newcomers Erichea Barnes, Tabitha Bradshaw, Precious Bridges, Ry’van Buchanan, Teanna Robinson, Alesha Smith and Alicia Williams made their first strides in connecting to the local community.
