Oglesbee Named ESPN the Magazine First Team Academic All-District III

MACON, Ga. – Mercer’s senior outfielder Holly Oglesbee was selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III team on Thursday and with the distinction is now eligible for national voting to take place in the coming weeks.

The Fayetteville, Ga. is majoring in business at Mercer and is one of 11 first-team players selected by Sports Information Directors in District III, which is comprised of Division I schools from Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. Oglesbee is a four-time National Fastpitch Coaches Association Academic All-American.

“It is just another great academic achievement,” head coach Mike Raynor said. “We are thrilled to have Holly recognized for all of her hard work both on the field and in the classroom.”

In her four years in Macon, Oglesbee has been instrumental to much of the Bears success. She is a career .296 batter and has started in every game but one of her illustrious 225-game career. She is first in all-time at bats and is the first player in Mercer history to break the 700-plateau with 713 plate appearances.

This season, Oglesbee leads the team in hits, doubles, triples, total bases and RBI and has been the Bears mainstay in left field.

“She is now reaping the benefits of her dedication to academics and softball,” Raynor said. “I am certainly proud of all that she has accomplished here at Mercer.”
