Men's Cross Country 7th at A-Sun Championships
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Mercer University’s men’s cross country team finished seventh at the 2011 Atlantic Sun Conference cross country championships Saturday at Percy Snell Park. USC Upstate repeated as the men’s Atlantic Sun Conference champion.
Sophomore Sony Prosper once again led the Bears team – a position he has been in each race this season – with a clocking of 25:57.32 for the eight kilometer course. Prosper was 16th place in the overall individual standings after entering the race was the A-Sun’s ninth-fastest time.
Junior Jacob Law was 24th overall (26:14.48), followed closely by teammates Andrew Weems in 27th (26:14.93) and Chris Svidesskis in 30th (26:20.86).
Senior Marc Kushinka was 50th overall as the Bears’ final scoring runner. Kushinka finished in a time of 27:13.22.
Freshman Josh Pendley was MU’s top finishing freshman runner, placing 52nd. Pendley covered the course in 27:21.48 minutes.
The Bears will finish the 2011 campaign at the NCAA Division I South Regional race at Tuscaloosa, Alabama on Saturday, November 12.
