MU's Three-Match A-Sun Streak Snapped at UNF
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Mercer men's tennis squad had its three-match Atlantic Sun Conference win streak snapped with a 5-2 loss at the University of North Florida on Friday. The Bears are now 6-8 overall and 3-2 in the A-Sun.
Mercer's two team points came at No. 3 and No. 6 singles, where senior Fernando Armendaris and sophomore David Barton earned victories, respectively. The duo have the two best singles winning percentages on the Bears' team at .667 (8-4) for Armendaris and .750 (9-3) for Barton.
Armendaris engaged in a three-set battle with the Osprey's Daniel Sotomarino. After winning the first set, 6-3, Armendaris dropped the second set, 6-4. In the super-tiebreaker third set, Armendaris rolled to a 10-5 win to take the set and match.
