Men’s Soccer Gives Back to the Community
MACON, Ga. – 16 members of the Mercer men's soccer team volunteered their time and effort to give back to the local community by working with Mercer's Local Engagement against Poverty (LEAP) on Saturday afternoon in downtown Macon.
The players involved included juniors Will Betts, Joey Heavner, Sharpe Sablon, Richie Edmondson and Josh Shutter, sophomores Cole Mitchell, Ehjayson Henry, Ryan King, Bryson Jones, Brady O'Brien and Vaughn Thomas and freshman Greg Ranjitsingh, Ashani Samuels, Zachary Steuer, Michael Lewis and Carl-Oscar Anderson.
The players starting working at 8 a.m. by prepping and priming an entire house, before putting down a full coat of white paint to the exterior of the residence.
LEAP is a student-led service initiative at Mercer University that seeks to address the needs of those living below the poverty line in our community.
The men's soccer team now turns its attention to the upcoming spring season, which starts on Feb. 25. The Bears open up at Clemson where they will play both the host Tigers and UNC Asheville.
