Men’s Lacrosse Defeated at Air Force

MACON, Ga. – Six different Mercer men's lacrosse players scored a goal in the team's 19-6 defeat at Air Force on Saturday afternoon.

Air Force scored 10 goals in the first quarter and never looked back while improving to 7-3 on the year.  Mercer saw its four-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 6-4 overall.

Freshman Whit Anderson and junior Sam Grayson each registered a pair of points in the losing effort.  Freshman Ryan Smith and sophomore Mike Nugent split time in goal, combining to make 12 stops on 58 Air Force shots.

The Falcons ripped off 10 goals in the first quarter before Grayson scored unassisted for Mercer's first goal of the afternoon at the 14:19 mark of the second quarter.

Freshman Kevin Yoggy, freshman Johnny Gavin, Anderson and freshman Jackson Teague all added goals before the final buzzer, but the initial deficit proved too large to overcome.

Both Mercer and Air Force were 12-of-14 on clears while the Bears won 15 of the game's 28 faceoffs.  Junior Justin Evans won 14 of those faceoffs while also tallying a game-high 10 ground balls.

Mercer returns to Atlantic Sun Conference play at Jacksonville on April 12.  Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
