MACON, Ga. The Mercer University baseball team took the field on a cloudy and brisk Friday afternoon for a nine-inning intersquad scrimmage at Claude Smith Field, signifying the official start to its 2010 season.

Major Leaguer Beckham Highlights "First Pitch" Event
Mercer Universitys (Ga.) baseball team held its second annual First Pitch banquet, the unofficial beginning to its 2010 baseball season. Chicago White Sox second baseman, and Georgia native, Gordon Beckham was the featured speaker for the autograph session and dinner/speech that followed.
The evening began with an estimated 100 guests attending the private autograph party and individual photo session with Beckham.

Beckham Named Featured Speaker for First Pitch Classic
MACON, Ga. The Mercer baseball team welcomes former Georgia Bulldog and current Chicago White Sox third baseman Gordon Beckham as the featured speaker of the First Pitch Classic, to be held Jan. 25, 2010 in Mercers University Center. The dinner begins at 7 p.m., preceded by an autograph session starting at 6:00 p.m.
